A licensed child care provider must comply with health and safety rules regulated by the Indiana department of Family and Social Services
In order to verify compliance with licensing standards intended to promote child care environments that contribute to the safety, protection, well-being, and health of children the Indiana Department of Family and Social Services requires thorough and ongoing appraisals of child care facilities and persons working in child care professions.
A licensed child care provider must possess early childhood education, knowledge of child growth and development, appropriate discipline, child abuse recognition and reporting, child nutrition, and health and safety practices.
All providers must be trained in CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions.
Background and medical examinations are required for provider, staff, and all household members.
Nutritious meals, appropriate discipline, personal hygiene, appropriate toys and equipment and safety features are all regulated by the Indiana Department of Family and Social Services.
